Our mission is to delight every guest of Scramblers by impressing them with unique breakfast and lunch recipes and attentive friendly service in a clean, dynamic yet comfortable environment.
NEW INFORMATION
- Our response – As everyone is aware, the general public is in a current state of heightened fear and anxiety as a result of the World Health Organization declaring the spread of the coronavirus a world-wide pandemic. As individuals have begun to test positive in the Midwest states, we find it necessary to address the looming concern that many of our guests and staff members have. First, please recognize that your staff looks to you for leadership at this time, and Scramblers expects that all members in leadership roles with Scramblers will be poised and professional as we navigate these next couple of weeks. In order to mitigate the threat and tamper the anxieties of our staff and the public, we have decided to take a number of appropriate precautions in the restaurants. We will be implementing both temporary and long-term policies designed to stave off any fears or panic from our staff while also letting our guests know that we care as much for their safety as we do for their delightful dining experience. The following is a list of precautions that we would like all operating Scramblers Restaurants to implement immediately and maintain until further notice:
- All bussers and food-runners will wear gloves throughout their shift both in the dining room and in the kitchen.
- Every hour on the hour hosts/ hostesses and servers will use disinfectant wipes to wipe down menus, frequently touched surfaces and door handles including conference room and bathroom doors.
- All restaurants should have a hand-sanitizer station located in a conspicuous location in the lobby for guests and staff. Scramblers corporate will provide a sign to accompany the dispenser and sanitizer with a message to our guests about our care for their safety. Unfortunately, we have been unable to source dispensers or sanitizer for all locations through a shared vendor such as GFS. We have been able to find these products through local vendors, but without any guarantees in their ability to service these dispensers and provide sanitizer regularly. Therefore, we encourage all franchise locations to independently source a dispenser and sanitizer. We recommend your local produce company or linen company. We will continue to work to procure more dispensers and sanitizer for franchisees that need help.
- At our request, Great Lakes Hamco will be providing all crayons in individually wrapped packs of four. Staff should discard used crayons after single use and provide new to all guests. Do not collect used crayons and re-distribute to guests in other-wise unsanitary containers. This will be a permanent policy change.
- Remove the sample coffee station from your lobby as a temporary show of awareness and precaution to our guests.
- Stock up on your carry-out containers. We expect that while some guests won’t want to dine in, many will still order Scramblers to eat at home. This could increase our carry-out sales. Be prepared.
- And finally, at some time this weekend, General Managers will conduct a brief staff meeting to address concerns and demonstrate appropriate leadership to the staff.
- Yogurt Parfait – From the Management training summit a few weeks ago we discovered several discrepancies with how stores are packaging carry-out yogurt parfaits. The correct container to use is the black carry-out bowl. Not the fruit cup. The recipe book in the Operations Manual in the Coop has been updated to reflect this.
- Downtown Turkey – We have made a recipe change to the Downtown Turkey. This sandwich currently calls for avocado slices. Based on demand, practicality, cost, flavor, and quality we have decided to change this to avocado spread. Please note the changes in the Cook Book and Recipe Book of the Operations Manual. Please note that the photo has not yet been updated, but will be soon.
- Orlando Bread – Due to significant ongoing issues with service and product, we have been working with Orlando Bread and GFS to change our existing bread distribution system. We have elected to begin to take all Orlando Bread products frozen distributed through GFS. Beginning in the next week or two we will make this change to frozen bread. You will work with GFS to order bread and have it delivered to you on GFS truck deliveries in frozen form to be held in your freezer and slacked out as necessary. While this method gives our restaurant managers more control and better product, it will require a more active role in our bread program. We anticipate much fewer mold issues, better consistency of product, and less logistical turmoil in the future.
- The Shop – One of our biggest short-comings with encouraging staff to be in proper and clean uniforms at all times is the staff’s struggle to order uniforms in the Coop. We provide ‘The Shop’ in the Coop as a way to order uniforms, but find that few servers take advantage of this. One of the issues is that they often don’t have or can’t remember their log-in or passwords to the Coop. Therefore, we have decided to create an additional location on-line where anyone can order Scramblers uniforms. Shopscramblers.com is a new resource for you. Please encourage your staff to visit and order new shirts at shopscramblers.com
- Scramblers App – The ‘Promotions’ tab of the Scramblers app has been updated with a new offer. Be prepared to honor $2 Off the beverage of your choice when this offer is presented.
- Online Job Applications – You asked and we listened! At the managers training last week, it was a consistent theme that all stores need more applicants to help staff their store. As a result, we have created a new way to apply to work at Scramblers. For many years the only way to apply to Scramblers was to print out a hard-copy application and hand-deliver it to the restaurant. Last week we created an on-line application for ease and convenience of the restaurants and our future team-members. Online applications can be found under the ‘Careers’ tab on our website. Future team members will be asked to select a location. This will allow the application to be sent directly to the General Manager, District Manager and Franchisee’s email. It is then the responsibility of the General Manager to reach out to the applicant to set up an interview.
