- Labor Day – Be advised, Labor Day is this coming Monday, September 5! This can make for a busy weekend if handled well in the restaurants. Please consider the times that you can expect to be busy throughout the weekend. There will be slower than normal times, such as Sunday or Monday early morning, and busier times than normal as well. Consider externalities such as football games or local events. The best method to determine how to write or adjust your existing schedule to be at maximum efficiency, is to look at last year’s numbers through the Sizzle system separating out sales by time of day. Don’t send staff home before busy rushes and don’t have excessive staff on at expectedly slow times. Efficiency is the key this weekend!

- Baking Powder – We received good news last week. GFS had previously reported to us that Red Star Baking Powder was being discontinued. This news had a scrambling for a reasonable alternative and/ or even a possible recipe change as we worked with baking powder alternatives that were not an ideal profile match. GFS has discovered and explained to us that this initial report was in error. In fact, Red Star Baking Powder has not been discontinued, merely repackaged. It is expected to be available to us within the next two weeks and will come in different packaging and pack size. Please watch for its availability when placing your orders for the next couple of weeks so that you can get it as soon as it becomes available again.
- Fall LTO – Be advised, we are currently working on this year’s Fall Limited Time Offering (LTO) Menu. While we finalize the menu and put it into production, we are anticipating a roll-out date on Wednesday, September 21. You will receive menus and full Product Preparation Guides before this date.
- Cocktail Menu – For restaurants using or anticipating their liquor licenses, we have finalized a newer, more streamlined Scramblers Cocktails Menu. We are currently rolling this new menu into the Scramblers corporate restaurants and will be presenting our findings as we move forward.
- Blackhawk Gift Cards – Be advised, the Scramblers Gift cards that are being sold in retail outlets such as Kroger and Giant Eagle have been updated as part of the implementation of our Sizzle POS System. Attached is an informational update regarding these cards. Please read and educate your staff on these cards. Blackhawk Gift Cards
- Spring/Summer LTO – As we near the end of summer it will soon be time to discontinue the current seasonal Limited Time Offering (LTO) Menu. The last day to run this LTO is Labor Day, Monday, September 5. Please be prepared to discard these menus at close of business that day. Now is the time to begin to consider this date when ordering product. Best methods are to share products among stores to avoid too much waste.
