NEW INFORMATION

  1. Thanksgiving – Be prepared! Thanksgiving is next Thursday! Pay close attention to last year’s sales to know what to expect in your restaurant on Wednesday thru Sunday of next week.  Each day’s sales may be very different than an average weekend in your restaurant.  Staff appropriately and be ready to impress!
  2. Holiday Décor – Time to decorate for the holiday season! As in years past we encourage all stores to decorate for the Christmas and winter holiday season.  Please remember the original guidelines for holiday decorations as we wish to ensure that our decorations are in good taste and display an appropriate level of tact.  Staff should plan to decorate shortly after Thanksgiving Day.  Below is a reminder of a few of the guidelines:
    1. Please do not gift-wrap wall art
    2. No cling-ons, ‘snow’ sprays, or markers on windows
    3. Please no multi-colored lights or multi-colored garland
    4. Recommended for use: green garland, white lights, poinsettias, ‘gold snow flakes’, and tree ornaments or bulbs
    5. Don’t forget the holiday music!

RECURRING TOPICS

  1. Gift Card Selling Season – Our annual ‘Buy $50 Get $10’ promotion started on Wednesday, November 16.  All stores should have implemented all promotional materials.  Because of some confusion on the gift card change-over, included in the attached Promotion Alert is clarification on how to handle each version of our gift cards.   2022 Gift Card Promotional Alert
  2. For Corporate Restaurants/ PTO Request Form – As promised in the annual Management Strategy Session, attached is the new PTO request form that should be used to submit requests directly to corporate. Please contact Peggy or Philip if you have any questions.   Scramblers Corporate PTO Request Form
  3. Holiday Hours Sign – If you’ve not already done so, the best way to increase your Thanksgiving Day sales is to let the public know that we’re open! Please place your Holiday Hours sign in your lobby. If you no longer have a sign, please contact corporate immediately to get a new one.
  4. Holiday Season – Here is a brief list and synopsis on what sales volume to expect as it compares to normal sales so that you may staff appropriately. Consider this as a general reference, though it is always wise to look at your individual store sales’ trends for exceptions:
    1. Day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday, Nov 23) – Up 20%
    2. Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, Nov 24) – In many locations volume is the same as a normal Thursday, but we are only open from 8am-12pm, so you do the same volume in only 4 hours.  Makes for a busy rush, so be prepared
    3. Day after Thanksgiving (Friday, Nov 25) – Very busy.  Up 75-150% from a normal Friday.  Sometimes even busier than Saturday or Sunday of that weekend.
    4. First three weeks of December sales volumes begin to dip
    5. Christmas: The week leading up to Christmas Day (whenever the kids get out of school; probably Dec 19 or 20 this year) begins to get busy.  Each weekday is 50-75% up on a normal weekday.  Christmas Eve often does the equivalent sales volume as a busy Saturday or soft Sunday.  We are closed Sunday, Christmas Day (only day of the year) and then Monday, December 26 will be like a busy Sunday, and 27-31 will be the equivalent of Saturday-like sales.  We often set weekly sales records during this week.  No one-single day is like a ‘Mother’s-Day-kind-of-busy’, but each day is busier than normal, which makes for an over-all busy week.  You will want as much staff available throughout this week as possible.
    6. New Year’s Day (Sunday Jan 1) – Up 20% on a normal Sunday. Other than Thanksgiving Day, this is the only day of the year that our hours change because we open late.  Hours are 8am-3pm.
    7. That following day will be normal strong Sunday.  Then business falls off on Monday, Jan 2.  At that point, cut staff and start cleaning!
