- GFS – As mentioned in previous updates, Gordon Food Service continues to struggle with its ability to fulfill orders. Even most recently indicating that it has stopped all express vans and item shipping to a local marketplace. These problems exist industry-wide for them as many of their competitors have simply stopped providing goods to many of their customers. Recognizing this, we have updated our method for approving substitution items that will apply to all locations throughout the system. This will prevent customer development specialists from authorizing unapproved substitutions or bothering individual stores for answers. We will continue to provide updates as necessary.
RECURRING TOPICS
- Labor Day – Just a reminder that this year, Labor Day is Monday, September 6. This is a few short weekends away. Please consider previous years’ sales on this weekend when writing your schedules as this has historically been a very busy holiday weekend.
- Fall LTO – We’ve begun the final stages of putting together our Fall LTO Menu. We will be bringing back a few favorites as well as a few new items. Expect to run the LTO in your restaurant beginning in mid-September. Prior to that time all stores will receive menus, Product Preparation Guides with recipes, product descriptions, photos, preparation instructions, food cost analysis and all other necessary details to train your staff and be ready. At that time, this menu will also be added to the Sizzle POS system and our online ordering. More details to come in a few weeks.
- Bacon Flight – After running velocity reports, we have concluded that due to relatively stagnant sales and operational difficulties, we will be discontinuing the Bacon Flight. We encourage all locations to continue running this promotion until product is exhausted. Do not throw good product away. When you no longer have the product available, you should remove your signs and table-tents with a no later than date of Tuesday, September 7.
