NEW INFORMATION

  1. Holiday Hours Signs – If you have not already done so, please post your Holiday Hours signs in your lobby now! This will help spread the word and increase your Thanksgiving sales.
  2. Veteran’s Day – Thursday, November 11 is Veteran’s Day. Attached is the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for this holiday.  Please read this SOP and educate your staff on how to honor discounts for our military veterans.         Veteran’s Day SOP
  3. Marie Club – This week we will be sending out another reminder to our e-club subscribers about the Scramblers App promotion of $2 off any Fall LTO item.

RECURRING TOPICS

  1. Training Videos – This past week, Scramblers Corporate wrapped up production of our new updated Training Videos. Once editing is complete, these videos will replace our current training videos in the Scramblers University section of the Coop.  Videos will be short, sweet and directly to the point, and serve as a training tool for all five positions; cook, server, busser, host, and dishwasher.  A new Introduction and Employee Handbook video will also be included.  All new Scramblers employees should be watching these videos when completing ‘new-hire’ paperwork.  Expect completed videos to be published next month.
  2. Holiday Season – We are only a few short weeks away from our holiday season. Here is a brief list and synopsis on what sales volume to expect as it compares to normal sales so that you may staff appropriately. Consider this as a general reference, though it is always wise to look at your individual store sales’ trends for exceptions:
    1. Halloween (Oct 31) – No change
    2. Election Day (Nov 2) – Up 25%
    3. Daylight Saving Time Ends (Nov 7)- Up 25%
    4. Veterans Day (Nov 11) – Up 25%
    5. Day before Thanksgiving (Nov 24) – Up 20%
    6. Thanksgiving Day (Nov 25) – In many locations volume is the same as a normal Thursday, but we are only open from 8am-12pm, so you do the same volume in only 4 hours.  Makes for a busy rush, so be prepared
    7. Day after Thanksgiving (Nov 26) – Very busy.  Up 75-150% from a normal Friday.  Sometimes even busier than Saturday or Sunday of that weekend.
    8. Christmas: The week leading up to Christmas Day (whenever the kids get out of school; probably Dec 20 or 21 this year) begins to get busy.  Each weekday is 50-75% up on a normal weekday.  Christmas Eve often does the equivalent sales volume as a busy Saturday or soft Sunday.  We are closed Saturday, Christmas Day (only day of the year) and then December 26 will be a busy Sunday, 27th will be a busy Monday, and 28-31 will be the equivalent of Saturday-like sales.  We often set weekly sales records during this week.  No one-single day is like a ‘Mother’s-Day-kind-of-busy’, but each day is busier than normal, which makes for an over-all busy week.  You will want as much staff available throughout this week as possible.
    9. New Year’s Day (Saturday Jan 1) – Up 50% (i.e. more like Sunday sales). Other than Thanksgiving Day, this is the only day of the year that our hours change because we open late.  Hours are 8am-3pm.
    10. That following day will be normal strong Sunday.  Then business falls off on Monday, Jan 3.  At that point, cut staff and start cleaning!
