Our mission is to delight every guest of Scramblers by impressing them with unique breakfast and lunch recipes and attentive friendly service in a clean, dynamic yet comfortable environment.
NEW INFORMATION
- Gift Card Selling Season – The holidays are upon us. Be advised, our Gift Card selling season begins with our annual ‘Buy $50 Get $10’ promotion on Wednesday, November 16. Look for promotional materials in the mail in the upcoming week.
- Daylight Saving Time – Don’t forget Sunday, November 6 to roll clocks back one hour as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end. When writing your schedule consider bringing staff in at least a half-hour early and be prepared for a very busy Sunday, November 6!
- Marie-Club – Next week we will send an email blast to our e-club offering $2 off any Fall LTO item valid Monday, October 31 – Friday, November 4. Please inform your staff to accept this coupon in both hard-copy and digital form. All the guest will be prompted to do is to show their email to their server for redemption.
- Dark Roast Coffee – In addition to the other changes to our new menu, we neglected to include the fact that we no longer offer Dark Roast as a coffee option. Based on sales of this product over many years, we have elected to discontinue our Dark Roast Blend. If you still have product in your restaurant, you are advised not to discard it. Rather, use up the last of this product and discontinue after it is gone.
RECURRING TOPICS
- Menus – As a reminder, with the implementation of the new menu we are eliminating both the Gluten-Free Menu and the Scramblers To-Go Menu. Our gluten-free items are already highlighted on the new menu now and the Scramblers Fam-Pack replaces the ‘To-Go’ menu as the offerings are the same and can be ordered in groups of 4. You should discard both of these menus if they are still in your restaurant.
- Carry-out Menus – For the first time in Scramblers history we’ve elected to no longer print carry-out menus, in an effort to avoid confusion, wasted paper and unnecessary costs. We have found these to be obsolete as the country has become far more accustomed to on-line and mobile shopping. Instead, like most of our industry, we will be directing guests to browse our menu on-line (without pricing to avoid inconsistency). A card with a QR code will be provided to all Scramblers hostess stations for guests who would like to see a mobile version of our menu. Please discard any and all paper carry-out menus in your restaurant.
- Onions – Your staff may have noticed that a Scramblers policy change has been implemented on your Sizzle POS system. Due to significant food cost increases, we are now charging guests $1.59 for onions and/or chives when added to their meal. This change was implemented last week with the new menu.
- DoorDash – Be advised, our DoorDash discount has been changed. We have updated it from a $3 off a $30 purchase, to $4 off a $40 purchase. The discount is updated on the DoorDash tablet as well as the Sizzle System button to reflect this change.
- Gift Cards – Just as a reminder, our new ‘Blackhawk’ Gift Cards are now being sold in Kroger and Giant Eagle. This is the card with the picture of French Toast on the front. Remember, these are no longer Vantiv cards. These, just like the Avocado Omellette gift card are our internal Sizzle System cards and must be redeemed through the Sizzle POS system.
- Holiday Season – We are only a few short weeks away from our holiday season. Please look for your Holiday Hours signs and have them ready to place in your lobby. Here is a brief list and synopsis on what sales volume to expect as it compares to normal sales so that you may staff appropriately. Consider this as a general reference, though it is always wise to look at your individual store sales’ trends for exceptions:
- Halloween (Monday, Oct 31) – No change
- Daylight Saving Time Ends (Sunday Nov 6)- Up 25%
- Election Day (Tuesday, Nov 8) – Up 25%
- Veterans Day (Friday, Nov 11) – Up 25%
- Day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday, Nov 23) – Up 20%
- Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, Nov 24) – In many locations volume is the same as a normal Thursday, but we are only open from 8am-12pm, so you do the same volume in only 4 hours. Makes for a busy rush, so be prepared
- Day after Thanksgiving (Friday, Nov 25) – Very busy. Up 75-150% from a normal Friday. Sometimes even busier than Saturday or Sunday of that weekend.
- First three weeks of December sales volumes begin to dip
- Christmas: The week leading up to Christmas Day (whenever the kids get out of school; probably Dec 19 or 20 this year) begins to get busy. Each weekday is 50-75% up on a normal weekday. Christmas Eve often does the equivalent sales volume as a busy Saturday or soft Sunday. We are closed Sunday, Christmas Day (only day of the year) and then Monday, December 26 will be like a busy Sunday, and 27-31 will be the equivalent of Saturday-like sales. We often set weekly sales records during this week. No one-single day is like a ‘Mother’s-Day-kind-of-busy’, but each day is busier than normal, which makes for an over-all busy week. You will want as much staff available throughout this week as possible.
- New Year’s Day (Sunday Jan 1) – Up 20% on a normal Sunday. Other than Thanksgiving Day, this is the only day of the year that our hours change because we open late. Hours are 8am-3pm.
- That following day will be normal strong Sunday. Then business falls off on Monday, Jan 2. At that point, cut staff and start cleaning!
OPERATIONS MANUAL CHANGES
- None.
