NEW INFORMATION

  1. Fall LTO – Our Fall Limited Time Offering Menu ends on Saturday, December 24. If you have not already done so, please begin to manage your inventory of any items that will no longer be necessary at the conclusion of this menu.
  2. Holiday Season – The holidays are here. Here is a brief synopsis on what sales volume to expect as it compares to normal sales so that you may staff appropriately. Consider this as a general reference, though it is always wise to look at your individual store sales’ trends for exceptions:
    1. Christmas: Next week many of the kids will be getting out of school mid-week or earlier. Sales volume should begin to increase by mid to end of week.  Christmas Eve, next Saturday the 24th, often does the equivalent sales volume as a busy Saturday or soft Sunday.  We are closed Sunday the 25th, Christmas Day (only day of the year).  Then expect Monday, December 26 will be like a busy Sunday, and Tuesday 27th – Saturday the 31st will be the equivalent of Saturday-like sales.  We often set weekly sales records during this week.  Each day is busier than normal, which makes for an over-all busy week.  You will want as much staff available throughout this week as possible.
    2. New Year’s Day (Sunday Jan 1) – Up 20% on a normal Sunday. Other than Thanksgiving Day, this is the only day of the year that our hours change because we open late.  Hours are 8am-3pm.
    3. Then business falls off on Monday, Jan 2.  At that point, cut staff and start cleaning!
  3. Egg Prices – The struggle with egg prices continues. The Urner Barry market just updated its report for egg prices next week and we are expected to hit a new all-time record high.  The medium egg price will be $4.06/ Dozen.  That makes our contracted price through GFS $3.87/ Dozen.  Unfortunately, demand through the holidays continues to outpace supply given the bird flu issues.  While there is nothing we can do about this, we do expect approximately two more weeks of high prices and then some relief after the new year.

RECURRING TOPICS

  1. Minimum Wage Increase – Be advised, on January 1, 2023 Ohio minimum wage takes a large increase from the current $9.30 to the new rate of $10.10. Sub-minimum (server/ tipped employee) wage increases as well from $4.65 to $5.05.  It is important to note that the sub-minimum and minimum wage change will automatically be made in your Sizzle POS system; however, currently, many individuals show a rate that is somewhere in between these rates.  Sizzle will not automatically adjust those rates to the new minimum.  They must be done by the GM manually.  This is a critical opportunity for all managers to look closely at their payroll wage rates for all of their employees to verify they will be paid accurately.
  2. Gift Card Promotion – Below is the link for the current Gift Card Promotion Sales for all locations. This link will be updated weekly and will remain in the Accounting Portal Ops Update and Sizzle POS system through January 2.
