Operations Update

NEW INFORMATION

  1. Have a very merry Christmas – The next couple of weeks are an important time for faith and family. We hope you enjoy your holidays.
  2. Reminder for staffing –
    1. Christmas: Christmas Eve will be on Sunday, Dec 24 and will be an expected standard Sunday volume.  We are closed Monday, Dec 25 Christmas Day (only day of the year) and then Tuesday, December 26 will be like a busy Sunday, and the 27th – 31st will be the equivalent of Saturday-like sales.  We often set weekly sales records during this week.  You will want as much staff available throughout this week as possible.
    2. New Year’s Eve (Sunday, Jan 31) – Expect normal Sunday sales.
    3. New Year’s Day (Monday, Jan 1) –Other than Thanksgiving Day, this is the only day of the year that our hours change because we open late.  Hours are 8am-3pm. Consider this day equivalent to Memorial or Labor Day Monday.  Business will start slow, but a strong late morning and lunch rush should be expected.
    4. Business will then fall off on Tuesday, Jan 2.  At that point, cut staff and start cleaning!
  3. Fall LTO – Reminder, the Fall LTO menu ends and should be discarded at the close of business on Sunday, December 24. Begin to manage your inventory of any items specific to this menu in order to avoid throwing any product away.  Considering that our top performer on this menu was Cinnamon Roll Pancakes by far, we are likely to put this item on the permanent menu, which is currently undergoing a full re-design for next year.
  4. Winter Savings Pass – Be advised, this coming new year, we’re planning to run a 6-7 week promotion beginning in the middle of January. This will be the same Winter Savings Pass that we ran last year, offering $3 off everything with no strings attached.  Details to follow in the coming weeks.
  5. Minimum Wage – Be advised, Ohio minimum wage increases again this coming new year. Beginning Jan 1, 2024 minimum wage for tipped employees goes from $5.05 -$5.25, and minimum for all non-tipped employees goes from $10.10- $10.45.  Please account for this adjustment to your employees on the coming payroll.

RECURRING TOPICS

  1. Logo Cups – In spite of the production problems that we experienced this past summer with our Scramblers logo cups, they are now and have been available on your GFS order guide. Despite the significantly higher cost as compared to generic white cups, the use of these logoed cups in your restaurants is not optional.  All restaurants must order these from GFS no later than Jan 1, 2024.  GFS maintains records of which stores have ordered these cups and will force-ship these to restaurants if necessary.  Please get your cups and use them for your guests.
  2. Kids Menus –Don’t Forget! January 1, 2024 is the full company change-over date to the new kids menus with new pricing. At that time the Sizzle POS system will be updated with the new prices. All restaurants must have the new menu by this date.  If you have not already done so, order the new kids menus immediately.
  3. Gift Card Sales – Attached is our running gift card sales tracker! This attachment will be updated weekly.  Please look how your restaurant compares to others in the company and encourage your staff to sell gift cards this weekend!
