NEW INFORMATION

  1. New Water Policy – We are making a significant fundamental change to our Scramblers operation in the form of a new water policy. In our ongoing efforts to improve our operations, we have identified a shortcoming that requires a very simple fix to streamline our system and improve our guests’ experience.  We are going to eliminate water liters!  The embarrassing, yellowed, cracked, always-looking-dirty water liters have to go!  Fortunately, eliminating them allows us to streamline our inventory of glassware in the restaurant, save money, make for a better look to the guests, speed up our operation, and eliminate an eyesore all at the same time!  Here’s how it works:
    1. First, all restaurants must change over their glassware to 2 glasses! A 16oz pint glass, and a 12oz pint glass.  That is all.  These will serve the purpose of much of our current glassware.  These will serve as glasses for water, soda, tea, cocktails, and juice!
    2. All restaurants should eliminate current fluted 9oz, 12oz, and 16oz glasses, as well as 20/22oz soda pop cups. All restaurants should also eliminate all plastic water liters!
    3. The new water policy is simple. No more 9oz water glasses or water liters to tables.  Hostesses will lead guests to their table with menus and silverware, help facilitate seating (as appropriate), hand menus to individual guests after they are seated, and then take their drink order on their tablet.  If a guest requests water, the hostess will go to the kitchen, gather 16oz water glasses, fill them with ice and water, and deliver them to the guests who requested water at the table, while assuring guests who ordered another beverage that their server will deliver those drinks momentarily.  He/ She will then return to the host station to greet the next guest.  Hostesses will no longer deliver water liters or empty 9oz water glasses to tables.  Servers will attend to guests with water in the exact same manner that they would guests with other beverages such as soda.  Refill as necessary.
      1. To be clear, hostesses will only be responsible to get 16oz pint glasses of ice water for guests who request it
    4. While we have eliminated the plastic water liters, all restaurants should have available 6 new glass water liters. These are only to be used for guests who request a water liter at the table or a large group to help facilitate refills for servers.
    5. The following illustrates the change and conversion to the new inventory that all Scramblers Restaurants should have on hand for beverages:

  1. In keeping our costs low for this change-over, below is a breakdown of the price of these new glasses. As you will see, this changeover is very inexpensive and should therefore not need to happen gradually, rather can be done with one simple order.

  • Libby 12oz glass, $44.65/ case x 2 cases = $89.30
  • Libby 16oz pint glass, $21.76/ case x 5 cases = $108.80
  • Libby glass water liter, $36.07/ case of 6 x 1 case = $36.07
  • Grand total for changeover = $234.17

  • If you have questions regarding the purchase of these items, please contact Tim Trautman or our Wasserstrom Representative, Kate Gushing, directly at (614) 657-0131.
  • Most of these glasses will be in stock by the end of next week and can be ordered in whole. This policy change should be implemented in your restaurant no later than Friday, May 31, 2024.
  • Both Server and Hostess Operations Manuals are being updated now to reflect this new policy change. These will be published to the Coop soon.
  1. Mother’s Day – This year Mother’s Day is less than two weeks away on Sunday, May 12! Look at your schedules and staffing and make a plan for our busiest day of the year!  This is often a good time to inventory your smallware, china and flatware.  Now is the time to purchase these items to insure you’ll have what you need.  Keep in mind, as mentioned earlier, glassware will be replaced in most circumstances, so don’t order old glasses that will need to be replaced in the next couple of weeks!
