Our mission is to delight every guest of Scramblers by impressing them with unique breakfast and lunch recipes and attentive friendly service in a clean, dynamic yet comfortable environment.
NEW INFORMATION
- Egg Beaters – We have elected to remove Egg Beaters from our GFS order guide after removing the option form our menu last year and subsequently watching sales of Egg Beaters decline dramatically over the past nine months. Unlike many years ago, most consumers now find egg whites to be a superior substitute to regular eggs and sales have reflected this sentiment. Egg whites will remain our primary egg substitute.
- Sliced mushrooms – As a matter of general practice, most restaurants do not use enough sliced toadstool mushrooms to justify the waste that occurs with unused mushrooms. Because our menu does not specify toadstool mushrooms anywhere, and because portabella mushrooms are considered a premium product, we have decided to remove sliced toadstool mushrooms as a part of our ordering process. In-house mushrooms will now be portabella exclusively.
- Spring LTO – We decided to take a different approach to our Spring LTO this year. Over the past two years, we have had several LTO items that have sold very well, yet are now unavailable to our guests as they either didn’t make last year’s permanent menu due to space, or have yet to make an upcoming menu update. Therefore, this year’s Spring LTO menu will be a ‘Best Of’ menu. We will feature four successful items from previous LTOs including Breakfast Street Tacos, Parisian Benny, the Sriracha Bacon and Egg sandwich, and Avocado Toast, as well as two new items including Ultimate Grilled Bacon and Cheese Sandwich, and Cold Brew Coffee. This menu is expected to roll out in mid-March. However, in anticipation of this roll-out we have updated our Breakfast Tacos plate presentation and ordered a dozen taco holders to be delivered to all 25 locations. While the cost of the new stainless-steel holders is minimal, the new plate presentation is far superior. Look for those in the mail in the next week or two.
RECURRING TOPICS
- Inventory Tools – You may have already noticed, we have added a new tool on the Accounting Portal for the sake of increasing managers accuracy when posting bills. As a general rule, if you post your invoices (identify your purchases in inventory) it is critical to adjust pricing to adequately reflect the actual dollar amount that the store paid for any given product. However, if you do not run a report to ensure that all of your invoice posting does, in fact, add up to the correct amount of your total invoices, your food cost numbers will be inaccurate. We have simply created a quick and easy reference tool to allow you to double-check your own work in the bill posting process of developing an accurate food cost. If you have specific questions about this, please contact Tim directly or our corporate offices.
OPERATIONS MANUAL CHANGES
Interested in a uniform change?
At Scramblers we understand that as times change, so do fashion trends. We have decided to consider a company and system-wide policy change for our uniforms from khaki pants to black slacks.
However, these types of changes don’t come without a few growing-pains and in some cases, are far more difficult and complicated than they appear at the surface. Therefore, while we pride ourselves in our ability to receive feedback from our staff and make positive changes to our company making us one of ‘Toledo’s Top Places to Work 2018’, we know that we cannot please everyone with every decision we make. So, we’ve decided to find out just how fervent the request for black slacks actually is . . .
Survey Time! If you want to be heard, here’s your opportunity! The link below will allow you to vote on khaki or black. A link will also be texted to your manager’s cell phone next week, which can be forwarded on to yours. A few things to consider when casting your ballot:
- Black slacks would apply to all front-of-house staff (servers, bussers, hostesses)
- Staff would be required to purchase their own uniform pants. Specific brands or retailors will not be required or provided
- Slacks must be of professional working style
- Slacks must have belt loops, be of appropriate length and have ‘sewn-in pockets’
- No jeans
- No yoga or stretch pants
- No capris
Thanks to all who wish to participate. Your feedback helps our company grow!
